Never Been To An Estate Sale & Don't Know What To
Expect?![]()
We love to yard sale. Often we see cardboard boxes (that's how its done in Las Vegas) on the corners directing us to an Estate Sale (rather than Yard Sale) and these are usually a disappointment with only the usual garage sale type items thrown on a table. A Estate Sale is held indoors where Everything Goes! It is usually due to a death or downsize and everything in the house is up for sale. Everything means just that- everything that remains in the house is for sale. There are clothes, knick-knacks, china, pots and pans, tools. From soup to nuts OR Lalique signed crystal to toilet paper! Generally, these sales are held by professional estate liquidators, such as myself. I am Renee of "Call Renee Estate Liquidation". I am often asked why the kids don't keep everything. Well, usually the kids are already grown adults with kids of their own - who have a specific lifestyle and taste they have chosen. Generally, they will keep the few items and mementos they want. The heirs hire me because emotionally it is a very painstaking process to go through. I feel I am an adoption agency for stuff that has been loved and cherished by the owners for many years. We are able to pass these wonderful items to others and I know the previous owner would be pleased. Renee has several estate sales a month, so check out her calendar at www.CallReneeEstateLiquidation.com

On
the East Coast
Our sales open up the entire home - and you walk through the rooms picking up the items you would like to purchase. Try to only hold on to the items that you really want to buy - so that someone else has a chance to purchase them. If you're not sure - put it back until you know you want to buy it. Be polite, no pushing or shoving, and follow the rules: If a door is marked "Stay out", then do so. You can bring your own box or basket to put your finds in. At most of the sales you are allowed to look through kitchen cupboards and drawers - check each and every room 'cuz treasures are everywhere! We don't discount on the first day of the sale-so everyone throughout the day - has the same chance to buy what they want. We will dicker a bit the 2nd day. We ask that you be reasonable with your offers. Too big to take at the moment - NO PROBLEM - we have a Pick Up Day the following week and can give you the name of some great men with trucks!
That's all there is to it - Its a fun way to shop - with great bargains! Check out our sales at www.CallReneeEstateLiquidation.com

TIPS
Coffee or tea stains can be removed from a cup by scrubbing with salt or baking soda on a sponge
| Wicker Clean Up Vintage and antique wicker is enjoying quite a renaissance in contemporary interior design Dont' Hose It Down or it will lose its shape. Take a cloth and wipe it down. Embedded dirty can be removed by using an old soft toothbrush. Older, painted pieces may start to peel and flake - and you may have to repaint. Vacuuming can help remove the dust and dirt as well. You may want to wash it with soap and water. Choose a mild soap made for wood or wood floors, and mix it up with lukewarm water. Sponge your wicker item with the water and soap solution,- and just remember not to get it too wet! Go over it again with a sponge and plain water, because soap residue can leave a sticky feeling behind. Make sure your wicker items are completely dry before you attempt to use them. This can take 24-48 hours or even more in a humid environment. If you sit in a damp chair, you run the risk of causing it to warp, .

While Fiesta ware is still made today, collectors seek out the original
production which can be identified by the marks on the pieces. For the
original production, three different marks were used: "Fiesta/ HLC USA",
"HLC/Fiesta/Made in USA", and "Fiesta/Made in USA/HL Co.". Fiesta ware
is actively copied, so one much be careful of reproductions or similar
wares made by other companies. Since about 1940, Homer Laughlin also
marked all of their production with the mark "Genuine". |
